A Journey to Remember: Merint Determination Center Students Experience Their First Metro Ride

It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and joyful discovery as the students of Merint Determination Center embarked on their very first Dubai Metro journey from Etisalat Station to Abu Hail. This memorable experience wasn’t just about travel—it was about exploration, independence, and building confidence beyond the classroom.

Accompanied by a team of kind and caring RTA Metro volunteers, our children enjoyed a safe, guided experience as they learned how to navigate the metro system. From purchasing tickets and waiting on the platform to boarding the train and observing the bustling stations, every moment was an opportunity to practice important real-life skills.

The students’ faces lit up with curiosity as they watched the train glide through tunnels and across elevated tracks, getting a glimpse of the city’s vibrant movement and life. Each station stop brought new excitement and conversation — sparking observations, laughter, and a growing sense of achievement.

Beyond the fun and adventure, the trip was a valuable learning experience in social behaviour and public etiquette. The children practised waiting patiently, taking turns, following instructions, and respecting public spaces — skills that play a vital role in fostering independence and inclusion. These hands-on lessons are an integral part of Merint’s approach to experiential learning, empowering students to engage confidently in community life.
